ACC team makes surprise visit to Sadarghat

A team of the Anti-Corruption Commission made a surprise visit to Sadarghat launch terminal on Monday to monitor the operation of water vessels to ensure safe journey for Eid holidaymakers on water routes.
A 10-member enforcement team, headed by ACC deputy director Helal Uddin Sharif, visited Sadarghat launch terminal to oversee that naval laws were being followed by passenger launches.
The team asked the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority authorities to take necessary measures to stop plying of unfit, risky and illegal vessels
and put a check on charging of extra fares from passengers.
‘There has been a full-time monitoring of the ACC to make sure hassle free services to the waterway passengers,’ said ACC director general (admin) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury.
The ACC hotline was ready to receive the complaints of the passengers, he added.
