Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation will start selling advance tickets today on different inter-district routes ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Under its eid service, the BRTC will run 904 buses across the country from June 13.
Road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader said these to journalists at the BRTC head office.
The BRTC organised a preparatory meeting on its eid time special service, said a press release.
The tickets will be available at BRTC counters in Dhaka, including Motijheel, Kalyanpur and Mirpur bus depots.
A total of 475 buses will run from BRTC’s Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj depots to different
routes to facilitate eid time travellers.
The rest will start from other district depots.
Fifty-four more buses will be kept at its capital depots to meet any emergency need of passengers.
The minister urged the BRTC officials to be alert against any allegation of charging extra fares from passengers in the state-owned institution.
Within this year, 400 new buses and 500 new trucks are scheduled to be included in the fleet of the corporation under Indian line of credit, he added.
The meeting was attended, among others, by BRTC chairman Farid Ahmed Bhuiyan and managers of its different depots.
