Two people were killed and another was injured as the cylinder of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw exploded after the vehicle crashed into a tree on the Sonapur-Char Alexander Road in Companir Hat area of Noakhali Sadar upazila on Sunday morning.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sudhram model police station, said that the incident took place when the Sonapur-bound auto-rickshaw hit the roadside tree after its driver lost control over the wheel around 6:00am.
Later, the cylinder went off leaving one dead on the spot and two others burnt.
One of the injured died on the way to hospital.
