Teleplay makers are sometimes forced to compromise with the quality of their productions due to lack of budget resulting in fall of quality of the programmes, said renowned actor-director Salauddin Lavlu.
Directors are making low budget productions using common shooting locations and typical plots. Often TV channels force makers to work with same cast members in different productions. As a result the programmes aired on the TV channels feature similar cast members, plots and locations, which viewers find monotonous, said Lavlu in an interview with New Age.
‘Local TV channels will continue to lose viewers until the channels start airing quality programmes. Most TV channels do not have any functioning production team now-a-days,’ said Lavlu.
‘You cannot expect viewers to watch low quality productions on local channels when they have access to foreign channels’, said Lavlu, who added that channels should have full-functioning preview and review teams to supervise every production aired on the channels.
Lavlu, who is acclaimed for his comedies, has directed two teleplays and one short drama serial for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr. Besides, he has acted in one short drama serial and few teleplays.
Ntv will telecast teleplays Buker Bhetor Nupur Baje and Facebook-e Bibaho and Banglavision will air a seven-episode drama serial Chirakumar Mone Mone directed by Lavlu this Eid.
‘Buker Bhetor Nupur Baje revolves around a love triangle, while Facebook-e Bibaho and Chirakumar Mone Mone are comedies’, said Lavlu.
Lavlu has acted in seven teleplays including Maruf Mithu’s Ekdin Chor Dhora Porbei and Patri Chaina, Debashis Barua’s Sultan and others, which will be aired on different TV channels during Eid. Besides, he has acted in Taifuzzaman Ashiq’s seven-episode drama serial Agantuker Galpo.
‘Most of these teleplays are comedies. Some of the teleplays also include social messages, while the drama serial revolves around a romantic story,’ said Lavlu.
