Comilla AL faction blames local MP for vandalising party office

Leaders of a Comilla Awami League faction on Sunday complained that a group of miscreants vandalised a local Awami League office at Barakamta union of Debidwar upazila in the district on May 23.
AKM Shafiqul Islam, leader of Comilla North District Awami League, at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity alleged that the miscreants were sponsored by local MP Razi Mohammad Fakhrul and they vandalised the pictures of the country’s founding president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and prime minister Sheikh Hasina, also the AL president.
Razi Mohaamad was elected MP from the area as a ‘rival candidate’ of Awami League in national election held on January 5, 2014.
ABM Golam Mostafa, the Jaiya Party leader had dropped his candidature in the elation according to the decision of the Awami League-led grand alliance.
Razi was patronising the local ‘BNP-Jamaat men’, the AL leader alleged at the press conference.           
Moreover, the local Awami League leaders were randomly abused by the MP Razi, he added.
District AL leaders ABM Golam Mostafa, Jahangir Alam Sarker, Humayun Mahmud and others attended the press conference.
When contracted, Razi Mohammad turned down the allegations and said it was the result of the internal feud among the local Awami League leaders, who were trying to get the party nomination in the next general election, he said.
They leaders were placing the blame on him to tarnish his image ahead of the election, he complained.
‘Our men were not involved with the incident,’ Razi added.
