A tribunal in Dhaka on Sunday ordered framing charge against actor Kazi Asif Rahman under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2003 in a case lodged by his wife Shamima Akter Aroni for allegedly physically torturing her for dowry.
Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-6 Shahidul Islam passed the order when police produced him before the court on the day.
Earlier, police arrested Asif from the Airport area on April 23 while he was returning from Malaysia.
Asif was given bail on April 25 on condition that he would not torture his wife further and bear all her expenses.
Though Asif’s lawyer urged the court to dismiss the case, the court ordered framing charge keeping the bail order active.
June 6 has been set for the next hearing.
Asif married Aroni in 2015 and they have a daughter.
He came into media spotlight after starring in film Ghashful by Impress Telefilm. Previously, he acted as model in a number of TVCs and teleplays.
