Different television channels will telecast diverse programmes today marking the national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s 119th birth anniversary.
The channels will pay tribute to Nazul by airing special teleplays and telefilms based on Nazrul’s stories, documentaries highlight life and works of Kazi Nazrul Islam and music and recitation shows featuring songs and poems penned by the poet.
Private television channel ntv will air two special teleplays, music and recitation show. The channel will air special teleplays Tomar Pather Dhulite and Mahuar Maya respectively at 2:35pm and 9:05pm.
Tomar Pather Dhulite is based on Nazrul’s poem Nishith Pratim and stars Subarna Mustafa, Sohana Saba, Maznun Mizan and Shahed Ali, among others, in lead roles, while Mahuar Maya is based on Nazrul’s poem Apan Piyashi and stars Intekhab Dinar, Sumaiya Shimu and others.
Besides, eminent Nazrul singer Fatema-tuz-Zohra will present Nazrul’s popular songs at a special music show aired at 8:45am on the channel.
Channel i will air a special telefilm titled ‘Mayabati’ based on Nazrul’s short story at 2:45pm. Adapted by Geetali Hasan and directed by Golam Habib Litu, the telefilm stars Nayeem and Himi in the lead roles.
Rtv will telecast special teleplay Boner Papiya, which is based on Nazrul’s short story Agragati. The teleplay, starring Chanchal Chowdhury and Sanjida Prity, will be aired at 9pm.
Maasranga Television will telecast special music and recitation show titled ‘Gaaney O Kabitaye Nazrul’ at 2:30 pm. The channel will telecast special single episode TV play titled ‘Rakkhushi’ directed by Rakibul Alam at 7:30pm. The TV play stars Shahadat, Sharmila and Nazira Mou in lead roles.
