Seasoned and up and coming recitation artistes presented popular poems penned by leading poets at a programme on Tuesday at Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Recitation troupe Swarachitra Abritti Charcha O Bikash Kendra organised the programme titled ‘Harano Kobitagulo Amar’, which featured chorus recitation by young artistes of the troupe and solo recitations by seasoned Swarachitra artistes.
Sixteen up and coming artistes, who have recently completed recitation courses at Swarachitra Abritti Charcha O Bikash Kendra, began the programme reciting Rafiq Azad’s poem Harano Kobitagulo Amar.
Following the chorus performance, renowned recitation artiste Mahidul Islam entertained the audience reciting Rabindranath Tagore’s Prithibi and Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Abhibhashan.
Tamanna Daisy recited Arun Mitra’s O Behula, which presents the story of Behula-Lakhindar from a feminist perspective. Daisy also recited Tagore’s Bani to the delight of audience.
Artiste Shawon Alamin recited Jibanananda Das’ popular poem Banalata Sen, while Farhana Misti recited Asad Chowdhury’s poem Barbara Bidler-ke.
Among others, Mostafiz Tanvir presented Shahid Qadri’s poem Black Out-er Purnimay and Abdul Halim recited Tagore’s Ek Gaye.
