Defending Premier Division Hockey League champions Mariner Young’s Club bolstered their squad by roping in two Egyptian national team players Ashraf Said Ahmed Mohamed Gomaa and Ahmed Mohsen Elsayed Badawi.
Both the midfielders arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday and were expected to play for Mariner in their league match against Sonali Bank Sporting Club today.
With inclusion of two Egyptian players, Mariner have now four foreign players.
Zulhairi Bin Hashim of Malaysia and Prampreet Singh of India have already played for them in the ongoing league.
Both Gomaa and Badawi were the members of the Egypt national team which played in the Hockey World League Round three in South Africa last year.
Mariner’s general secretary Hasanullah Khan Rana said both the players have represented Egypt national team in more than 50 occasions.
Egypt are currently ranked 20th in the FIH ranking.
‘This is for the first time we have brought two Egyptian players in domestic league,’ Rana said.
‘We are planning to bring two German players within a very short time.’
Mariner won their all six matches so far in the league.
