A portion of the railway overpass at Fatehpur in Feni on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway was opened to traffic on Tuesday to alleviate traffic jam on the highway.
The overpass was opened around 2:30pm for public, said Mohiuddin, a project manager of the Fatehpur railway overpass while talking to the reporters at Fatehpur railway overpass.
The railway overpass will be opened fully before Eid-ul-Fitr, he said
High officials concerned of 20 construction battalion of Comilla cantonment were present during the opening.
The construction work of the railway overpass at Fatehpur started in 2012.
Later, Bangladesh Army were given the task to finish the construction work.

As of today, a 15-km tailback was created on the highway on Tuesday morning causing immense sufferings to commuters.
Vehicular movement remained shut from Daudkandi Toll Plaza to Eliotganj Bridge following the tailback.
The traffic jam had been created on the Dhaka-bound road following excessive pressure of vehicles and slow movement of vehicles in the toll plaza area, said Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge of Daudkandi highway police station.
