Underprivileged children presented diverse songs, poems and dance recitals to the delight
of the audience at a programme held at Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad hall of Bangla Acedemy on Saturday.
The programme, organised by Anan Foundation marking its 6th foundation anniversary, featured a discussion, awards ceremony and cultural show.
Child artistes commenced the programme singing the foundation’s theme song. The children in chorus rendered patriotic songs Amar samne jibon and Sabuje sabuje.
Besides, the children also presented three dance recitals synchronised with the songs Phule phule dole dole, Ai ai ke jabi and Notun dhaner chira and recited three poems in chorus including Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury’s Ekushey February, Subhash
Mukhopadhyay’s May Diner Kabita and national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Jhinge Phul.
This year Anan Foundation honoured litterateur Kaiser Chowdhury with Shishu Shaitya Puroskar 2018 for his contribution to children’s literature. Chowdhury received a crest, certificate and Tk 1,00,000. In the previous years, the foundation has honoured novelist Selina Chowdhury, litterateur Ali Imam and others with the award.
Litterateurs Sujan Barua, Ali Imam, Jahangir Alam, Rafiqul Haque, poet Shirajul Farid and singer Bulbul Mahalanbish, among others, were present at the programme.
Rafiqul Haque handed over books to the winners of children’s cultural competition, which was organised by the foundation earlier, and also stipends to foundation’s students who did well in PSC and JSC examinations.
