The Anti-Corruption Commission has given priority on quality inquires and investigations with a view to ensuring cent per cent conviction of real offenders to make brighter image of the commission.
ACC has recently issued a set of instructions for its officials from assistant directors to director generals to work with professionalism and utmost sincerity to scale up standard of inquiries and investigations to ensure punishment to all the corrupt elements.
‘The standard of each inquiries and investigations should be reached at such level of standard which will ensure conviction of offenders in all the corruption cases,’ said ACC chairman Iqbal Mahmood.
He also said they are trying their best to increase the conviction rate in corruption cases to cent per cent to bring the graft suspects to justice informing that the conviction rate in graft cases has already increased to 69 per cent in 2017.
He asked his colleagues to realize that the ACC is their organization and work accordingly to make brighter the image of the commission in the days to come.
The conviction rate in graft cases filed by the ACC was only 20 per cent, but it reached 54 per cent in 2016.
Mahmood said the commission is trying to bring about a positive change in inquires and investigations, and complete probes within the stipulated timeframe set by its rules.
The commission is working for ensuring quality of probes into the graft charges, he said, adding that ACC officials have been asked to complete inquiry into graft allegations and investigation into corruption cases in the stipulated time to bring dynamism it its activities.
The ACC has asked the authorities concerned to make sure the appearance of witnesses before the court on each of the fixed dates with the concerned ACC lawyers with a view to making quicker the trial process.
It has also decided to give dearness allowance to the prosecution witnesses to ensure their timely appearance in the court.
