A readymade garment factory caught fire in the capital’s Rampura area on Sunday.
The fire broke out at Asiana Garments located on the 5th floor of a 12-storey building around 1:45pm, said Kamrul Hasan, duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence central control room.
Being informed, 13 firefighting units rushed in and brought the blaze under control around 3:30pm and the flame was doused around 4:20pm, he said, adding that the fire could not spread to any other floor of the high-rise building.
There was no report of any casualty as the garment factory was closed when the incident took place.
However, the origin of the fire could not be known yet, Kamrul said.
