Bangladesh’s premier golfer Siddikur Rahman on Saturday said that the local golfers will prove their improvement in the 4th Bangladesh Open, scheduled to be held in Dhaka from May 9-12.
Siddik, the two-time Asian Tour Winner, was speaking during the logo unveiling ceremony of the $3 lakh Asian Tour Tournament at the Kurmitola Golf Course.
This time, the Bangladesh Golf Federation, sold the title sponsorship rights to Arab Bangladesh Bank Limited after successfully hosting the previous three editions with the financial assistance of Bashundhara Group.
Siddik, who spent an ordinary week in the just concluded Sixth bti Open when he shared fifth position with his compatriot Sojib Ali at the same course, finished runners-up in the last year’s Bangladesh Open.
‘In the maiden edition we didn’t perform well as most of our golfers failed to finish in the top-20s,’ Siddik said.
‘In the second edition, two of our golfers finished in top-10 and last year I became runners-up which means we are improving gradually and it would help us to do better in this tournament.’
Zamal Hossain Mollah, who finished second in the bti Open, said he will try his best to fulfil his dream of winning his maiden Asian Tour title.
‘After performing well in the last three tournaments in PGTI and ADT circuits, I am confident to do better in the upcoming tournament,’ he said.
‘I will give my best effort to win my maiden Asian Tour title.’
Golfers from more than 25 countries will take part in the tournament.
Major General Abdullahil Baki, senior vice-president of the golf federation and chairman of the organising committee, unveiled the logo of the tournament.
