Bacchu, AK Azad, Tabith summoned by ACC

Interrogation over different allegations intended

Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday summoned former BASIC Bank chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu, Ha-Meem Group managing director AK Azad and BNP national executive committee member Tabith Awal for interrogation over different allegations.
ACC deputy director Samsul Alam summoned Bacchu to appear in the commission on May 7 to face interrogation for the fifth time over embezzlement of around Tk 4,500 crore from BASIC Bank in his tenure, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharjee told reporters.
He said that same officer summoned Tabith Awal to appear in the commission on May 8 for facing interrogation over suspicious transaction from his bank account.
The commission director, Meer Joynul Abiden Shibli, asked AK Azad, also former FBCCI president, to appear in the commission on May 9 to face interrogation over his alleged accumulation of illegal wealth, the official said.
