Bangladeshi diaspora in the South Korean city of Jeonju celebrated Pahela Baishakh by organising a day-long programme on April 15 at the Chonbuk National University Medical School.

Bangladeshi students, researchers and their family members took part at the programmes which included music, dance, games and display of traditional Bangladeshi cuisine and others.

Chonbuk National University students Akhirul Raju, Toufique Alam, Pervez Ahmed, Minarul Islam, Syed Azim and Afzal Hossain sang traditional and popular songs at the programme while another student Saidul Isalm presented a dance recital, said a press release sent by BD Group Jeonju, a platform of Bangladeshi students and their families.

Over 50 participants took part in different traditional games.

Through the event, the community also welcomed the Bangladeshi new students of the university.

The convener of the platform Abu Hena Mostofa Jamal presided the programme.
