Seven killed in road accidents

At least seven people were killed and four more injured in separate road accidents in Feni, Chittagong, Gazipur, Gaibandha, Dinajpur and Chapainababganj districts on Friday, our correspondents and news agencies reported.
New Age correspondent in Feni reported that a biker and his co-rider were killed and one more injured when a passenger bus hit the bike on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Nijkunjara area in Feni in the
evening.
The deceased were identified as Riazul Islam, 45 and Rony 22. The deceased were both electricity worker.
Rabiul Meer, who was injured during the accident, said a Star-Line Paribahan bus on Feni-Chittagong route hit the bike and both the vehicles fall into a roadside ditch.
Muhuriganj police outpost in-charge Mahbub Alam said Riazul died on the spot and Rony later died at the Feni Sadar District Hospital.
New Age correspondent in Chittagong reported that a motorcyclist was killed when a covered van hit his vehicle at Barabkunda area under Sitakunda Upzila at about 1:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Md Noyon, 26, son of Abul Bashar, hailed from Barabkunda area of Sitakunda.
Following the accident, Noyon received critical injuries and succumbed to his injuries at about 2:30 pm at the Chittagong Medical College and Hospital, said Mohammad Alauddin Talukder, assistant sub-inspector of CMCH police outpost.
In Gazipur, a man was killed and three others were injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Narayanganj bypass road in Mirer Bazar area on Friday, reports Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
The deceased was identified as Mukhoruddin, 43, son of Aiezuddin of Zinara area under Noria thana in Shariatpur district.
Officer-in-charge of Joydebpur police station Muhammad Aminul Islam said the accident occurred when a bus collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction in the area, leaving four people injured on the spot.
Attending doctors declared Mukhoruddin dead when he was brought to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital along with other injured people.
BSS also reported that two people, including a minor boy and a youth, were killed in separate road accidents in Gaibandha and Dinajpur district on Friday.
In Gaibandha, a minor boy was killed on the spot after a sand-laden trolley hit him while he was crossing a road near Rambhadra Government Primary School under Sundarganj Upzila .
The deceased was Harun Mian, 5, son of Noya Mian of nearby Shantiram village under the Upzila .
Earlier in the morning, a motorcyclist was killed as a truck ran over him after he lost control over his bike on Parbotipur-Kholahati road under Parbotipur Upzila of Dinajpur district.
The deceased was Abu Nasser Neyamatullah Nayan, 25, son of Mohammad Nuruzzaman of village Tebaria under Parbotipur Upzila of Dinajpur.
United News of Bangladesh reported that a man was killed when a truck hit a motorbike at Ranihati in Shibganj Upzila of Chapainababganj district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Manirul Islam, an employee of Shibganj Upzila Resource Centre and a resident of Tikapara in the district town.
Habibul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shibganj police station, said the onion-laden truck from Sonamasjid Land Port hit the motorbike carrying Manirul, leaving him injured.
He was rushed to Sadar Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Police seized the vehicle.
