At least seven people were killed in separate road accidents in Dinajpur, Rangpur, Chapainawabganj, Mymensingh, Natore and Sirajganj on Monday.
In Dinajpur, a cyclist was killed as a truck crushed him at Dila in Dinajpur Sadar, reported New Age correspondent in Dinajpur.
The deceased was Abdul Majib, 55, a resident of Juriapara under Sadar upazila.
Kotwali police officer-in-charge Redwanur Rahim said that a truck crushed him when he fell on the road.
In Chapainawabganj, a bicyclist was crushed under the wheels of a tractor at Sunderpur under Chapainawabganj Sadar in the morning, reported Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha.
The deceased was Nizam Uddin, 30, son of Ekramul Hoque of village Jandipur of Sunderpur union in Chapainawabganj sadar.
In Rangpur, two persons, including a Jubo League leader, were killed in a road accident at Fakirerhat point on the Mithapukur-Phulbari regional highway under Mithapukur upazila, reports the BSS.
The accident occurred when a private car hit an elderly man sitting by the roadside, overturned and hit a roadside house at 9:00am, said sub-inspector of Mithapukur police Ashish Kumar.
Alef Uddin, 60, son of Ayen Uddin of village Gilajhuki under Mithapukur, and owner of the private car Mostafizar Rahman Fizar, 40, vice-president of Dinajpur Sadar upazila unit of Jubo League, were killed on the spot, he said.
After completing legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their respective relatives and the process of filing a case in this connection was in progress, Ashish said.
In Mymensingh, a van puller was killed in a road accident at Churkhai on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the morning, reports the BSS.
The deceased was Abdul Mannan, 65.
Quoting locals, police said Mannan died on the spot when a Dhaka-bound truck crushed him while he was crossing the road around 10:00am.
Protesting the accident, locals put up a barricade for over an hour, hampering vehicular movement on the highway.
In Natore, a motorcyclist was killed while another injured as a vehicle hit their bike at Khejurtola under Baraigram upazila in the morning, reports United News of Bangladesh.
The deceased was Mamtaz Ali, resident of Bonpara under the upazila.
The accident took place around 10:30am when an unidentified vehicle hit the motorcycle leaving Mamtaz dead on the spot, said Shamsun Nur, officer-in-charge of Bonpara Highway Police.
A college principal was killed as a bus crashed into his bike on Kazipur-Dhunat regional road at Chalitadanga under Kazipur upazila in Sirajganj in the afternoon, reported the UNB.
The deceased was Yunus Zaman, 54, principal of Afzal Hossain Memorial Degree College and a resident of village Baraitali under the upazila.
Kazipur police officer-in-charge AKM Lutfar Rahman said that the accident took place around 2:00pm when the principal was returning home by his motorbike.
A Sonamukhi-bound bus of Suchona-Muzahid Paribahan knocked his bike, leaving him critically injured.
Locals took him to Dhunat upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.
