Recitation troupe Kanthashilon celebrated its 34th founding anniversary through a programme held at Kanthashilon’s office on Elephant Road on Sunday.
The programme featured discussion, recitations and songs.
Kanthashilon artistes began the programme singing popular Tagore song Ore grihobashi kholo dhar kholo. Tanjim Toma, Ananya Goswami, JM Maruf Siddiqui, Salam Khokan and others recited poems penned by famous poems at the programme.
Kanthashilon artistes ended the programme singing Tagore song Shongkocher.
Presidium member of Bangladesh Abritti Samannay Parishad Rafiqul Islam, secretary general of Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Akhtaruzzaman, president of Kanthashilon Golam Sarwar, cultural activist Mir Barkat, novelist Khaleque Mallik and reciter Lutfar Kabir were present at the programme.
Kanthashilon, which was founded in 1984, has been working to popularise recitation among the young generation. The troupe has also produced a number of acclaimed plays till date.
