Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday said that the Awami League would finalise the ratio of sharing parliamentary seats for next general election after consultation with alliance partners.
‘Awami League will settle the issue of seat sharing with its partners for next general election after consulting with the leaders of the partners,’ said Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, after visiting activities of a mobile court at Manik Miah Avenue in the capital.
Referring to Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad’s demand of 70 seats for his party in the upcoming general election, Quader urged Ershad not to talk about the demands in public meeting. ‘We will settle the issue after consultation.’
‘We will nominate popular candidates for the upcoming general election from our alliance,’ Quader said.
Referring Khulna and Gazipur city corporation elections, Quader said the city elections would be treated as ‘semi-final’ before the general election.
