Shama welcomes new year thru Tagore’s songs

Celebrated Rabindra Sangeet singer Shama Rahman welcomed new year and bid adieu to Bengla year 1424 rendering Tagore songs at a solo show held at held at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Friday.
Bangladesh National Museum organised the event as part of its Bangla New Year 1425 celebration programme. Eminent novelist Imdadul Haq Milon inaugurated the programme. Director general of the national museum Faizul Latif Chowdhury gave welcome speech at the event.
Shama began the programme singing Nabo anande jago aji nabo robi kirone. She next rendered songs like Ganner bhetor diye zokhon dekhi, Shei bhalo shei valo, Aji joshna rate sobai geche bone and others to the delight of the audience.
Shama has released 14 albums of Tagore songs till date. She is the only Tagore singer whose nine solo albums of Tagore songs were produced by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
Shama Rahman learnt classical music under the tutelage of late Ustad Fazlul Huq and subsequently under legends like late Atiqul Islam.
