Dhaka North City Corporation officials on Thursday said that the city service providing government agencies under the city corporation area were not cooperative with them to ensure better services for the residents.
DNCC chief health officer Md Zakir Hassan said that the agencies, including Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha, which have huge wetland under the DNCC area had promised to clean the mosquito breeding spaces but they did not.
DNCC chief engineer Md Syeed Anwarul Islam said the agencies, including Roads and Highways Department, were yet to give them permission to use land for U-tern project, which would reduce public sufferings from Satrasta to Abdullahpur.
The officials came up with the comments after a magazine launching programme at a hotel in the capital.
Nagar Unnayan Sangbadik Forum Bangladesh, a platform of journalists working on urban issues organised the programme.
Dhaka north city panel mayor Osman Goni unveiled the second publication of ‘Dhakai’ as chief guest, where DNCC chief executive officer Meshbahul Islam, chief waste management officer Commodore M A Razzak, NUSFB president Amitosh Pal, general secretary Motin Abdullah spoke, among others.
DNCC councillors at the programme complained that the city people rebuke them for the failure of other agencies.
They asked the responsible agencies to be more sincere for city utilities and not to create public sufferings.
