A teacher of Comilla University has been temporarily suspended from the university activities on allegation of sexual harassment.
On Thursday, the university authorities issued the suspension order.
On Wednesday night, the registrar of the university Md Abu Taher told reporters about the matter.
Abu Taher said that two female students submitted a written allegation of sexual harassment against GM Ajmal Ali Kawsar, an assistant professor of the Department of Management Education.
The university authorities suspended Ajmal Ali Kawsar from all administrative and academic activities for violating the rules of the university law, Taher said.
Until further notice, he will not be able to participate in any administrative and academic activities of the university, the registrar said, adding that he will receive half of the basic salary.
On April 9, the two female students of the Institute of Management Education submitted the written allegation against Ajmal Ali Kawsar with the registrar.
According to the written complaint, the students said that Ajmal Ali Kawsar harassed them by sending objectionable photos and messages over Facebook.
