The 32nd anniversary of death of Justice Syed Muhammad Hussain will be observed today.
Justice Hussain was an eminent judge of the Supreme Court, who was removed under martial law in 1984.
His bold role for the independence of judiciary, dedication for the cause of rule of law, democracy, human rights as well as his honesty and integrity and learned judgments made him famous in and outside the country.
He was the eldest son of late Syed Tasodduque Hussain, a district and session judge, and Begum Asma Hussain.
Justice Hussain, was the chairman of Bangladesh chapter of International Law Association, Amnesty International and International Commission of Jurists.
In recognition to his contribution, he was awarded Swadhinata Padak (Posthumous) in 1998.
