Dhaka University Cultural Society celebrated the spring by organising a day-long festival featuring songs, dance recitals, puppet show, jatrapala, gambria, concert, fair, procession and others held at the Teacher-Student Centre on DU campus on Thursday.
The day-long festival was inaugurated by pro-vice chancellor (Academic) of Dhaka University professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad in the morning. Professor of Bangla department of Dhaka University Dr Soumitra Shekhar, musician-thespian Rahul Anand and thespian Nuna Afroz, among others, were present at the event. Associate professor of mass communication and journalism department of Dhaka University Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury presided over the event.
Dhaka University Cultural Society honoured Ananta Hira, Nuna Afroz and Rahul Anand for their contributions to cultural arena.
State minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the cultural show in the evening.
Mymensingh-based troupe Banga Natydal staged a jatrapala titled ‘Joynob Sundori’. Gaankabi entertained the crowd presenting a medley of songs like bhawaiya, jalal geeti and maijvandari.
Popular band Joler Gaan rendered their popular songs like Bakul phul, Jhora pata, Mayer jonno gaan, Ami ekta patar chhobi anki and others to the delight of the crowd.
