Following his international ventures, the Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan embraced the global reality on his 41st birthday by opening an official YouTube channel to promote his films and film songs globally.
The channel named Shakib Khan Official was inaugurated on Wednesday at Dhaka Westin. The channel will be supervised by the content platform Bongo BD and will feature video clips, audio-video songs, trailers, promos, behind the scenes and other promotional contents of Shakib starring films.
Bongo BD CEO Fayez Taher and Jazz Multimedia chairman Abdul Aziz and producer Golam Kibria, among others, were present at the ceremony.
They congratulated Shakib for launching the channel on his 41st birthday.
It was also informed that contents featuring Shakib Khan had over 32 crore views on YouTube.
‘When YouTube was introduced, like others, I used to criticise about online release of film songs and films without taking consent. But, now we understand that YouTube can be a great platform for promoting films globally and also can be an alternative source for making money,’ Shakib Khan said.
Shakib also said that his production house Shakib Khan Films from now on would produce almost seven to eight films annually jointly with Indian production houses.
‘We will present quality big budget films on the contemporary issues. I will also act in those films,’ said Shakib Khan adding that his production house would also promote young talents of Bangladesh.
‘The reputed directors, who made good films but now are jobless for scarcity of producers, will also be promoted,’ Shakib said.
Already a film project named Priyatoma has been finalised and the shooting would begin in September, Shakib told New Age.
‘Not necessarily only the Indian actresses would play opposite me in such joint venture films. We would look for alternatives [for promoting local actresses],’ Shakib said.
He also said that some joint venture films featuring Shakib Khan in lead role such as Chalbaj would be released in the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha.
‘I hope unnecessary troubles would not be created during the release of those films as unfortunately happened last year. But, paradoxically, there was no protest in Bangladesh in case of release of joint venture films starring Indian actors in lead roles,’ he lamented.
Shakib also said he and Jaya Ahsan were doing well in Kolkata-based film industry in India.
He said he just returned from Kolakata from
filming Bhaijan Elo Re and was busy with new film Super Hero’s shooting in Chittagong.
He was also busy with other projects such as Chittagaiya Pola Noakhailla Maiya, Captain Khan and Operation Agneepath.
