Indian theatre troupe Alternative Living Theatre staged its play Titas Ekti Nadir Nam on the second day of the week-long theatre festival ongoing at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium at Rikabi Bazar in Sylhet on Tuesday evening.
The play, based on Adwaita Mallabarman’s novel with same title, depicts the life of fishermen living on the bank of the Titas river.
The play has been adapted and directed by Indian theatre artiste Prabir Guha.
Aftar Ali, Bikash Bose, Mohan Ghosh, Pritam Chakrabarty, Orkjyoti, Abhijit, Devabrata, Abhi, Raja, Dhiman, Sujoy, Ria, Deyasini, Ankita, Anusua, Silvia, Anuska, Avipsa and Mousui played different characters in the play.
Dhaka-based theatre troupe Dhaka Theatre staged its acclaimed play Dhabaman, written by Selim Al Deen and directed by thespian Shimul Yusuf, on Wednesday.
The week-long festival has been organised by Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet, a platform of the Sylhet-based theatre groups, in association with the cultural affair ministry, Sylhet City Corporation and Sylhet-based cricket team Sylhet Sixers to promote cultural exchange between Bangladesh and West Bengal, India.
Finance minister Abul Maal Muhith inaugurated the festival as chief guest at Kabi Nazrul Auditorium on Monday.
