The minister for law, justice and parliamentary affairs, Anisul Huq, on Thursday said that formation of special anti-terrorism tribunals at divisional cities for expediting cases against extremists is under process.
Anisul, replying a starred question of Awami League MP Amatul Kibria Keya, told the parliament that the special anti-terrorism tribunals will play a special role to deal with the cases against extremists.
Right now there are 169 cases were filed against extremists across the country, Anisul said.
Fifty nine of them are in Dhaka division, 36 in Chittagong division, 27 in Rajshahi division, 12 in Khulna, seven in Barisal, eight in Sylhet and 19 in Rangpur division.
‘We had directed respective public prosecutors to take necessary steps to quick disposals of the cases against extremists,’ Anisul said.
‘Law and justice division is keeping an eye that the vacancy of judges cannot hamper the legal process of the cases at the courts against extremists’ he added.
