The 42th death anniversary of Palli Kabi Jasimuddin was observed at the poet’s ancestral home in Gobindapur village near Faridpur town on Wednesday.
Faridpur district administration organised different programmes including discussion and Milad Mahfil.
Officials of Faridpur district administration and Ansar Uddin High School and different literary and cultural organisations placed floral wreaths at the grave of the poet in the morning on Wednesday.
Deputy commissioner of Faridpur Ommey Salma Tanzia was present as the chief guest at the discussion. Among others, additional superintendent of police Jamal Pasha, poet’s son Dr Jamal Anwar and writer Mafiz Imam Milon spoke at the programme.
Jasimuddin received numerous awards for his contributions in the literary arena of the country including President’s Award for Pride of Performance, Pakistan (1958), DLitt by Rabindra Bharati University, India (1969), Ekushey Padak, Bangladesh (1976) and Independence Day Award (1978).
