Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said any negotiation over Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s sentencing or release between the BNP, AL and government was out of the question.
While visiting a Mirpur slam, which was burned down in fire on Tuesday, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minster, in the morning said neither the government nor the AL had influenced the sentencing and bail of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
‘The court had convicted her and it also ordered her bail and it has been proved that judiciary is free,’ he added.
The cause of fire in the slam was not identified so far, but investigators were trying to find out the casue,’ Quader said.
The government has allotted 100 tonnes of rice and Tk 10 lakh for the affected slam dwellers and the Deputy Commoner’s of Dhaka making a list of the affected people, Quader said.
The High Court on Monday granted bail for four months to the main opposition leader Khaleda Zia, jailed for five years in a corruption case 34 days back.
