Wicketkeeper-batsman Salahuddin Pappu struck a century as Legends of Rupganj returned to the second position in the Dhaka Premier League with 26-run win over Kalabagan Krira Chakra at BKSP on Monday.
Brothers Union lost to Agrani Bank Cricket Club by three wickets despite 200-run opening stand between Mizanur Rahman and Junaed Siddique at Fatullah while Khelaghar SKS defeated Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club by six wickets at Mirpur in the other matches of the day.
Rupganj v Kalabagan
Put into bat first, Rupganj lost opener Abdul Mazid (20) early but Salahuddin hammered 125 off 95 balls and shared 150-run with Mohammad Naim (45) for the second wicket in the process to guide the side to 314-5 in 50 overs.
Skipper Naeem Islam chipped in with 61 off 53 balls as Taibur Rahman and Abul Hasan picked two wickets apiece for Kalabagan.
Replying to a mammoth target, Kalabagan made steady progress with 65 and 57 runs respectively in the first and second wicket stand but Rupganj spin duo Asif Hasan and Indian recruit Parvez Rasool shared six wickets between them, folding the side for 288-10 in 49.5 overs.
Parvez picked 3-50 and Asif took 3-43.
Shreevats Goswami scored the highest 75 while veteran Mohammad Ashraful made 64 for Kalabagan.
Agrani Bank v Brothers
Asked to bat first, Brothers Union made a solid stand as Mizanur and Junaid Siddique added 200 runs in the opening stand.
But pacer Shafiul Islam dragged Agrani Bank back to the game restricting Brothers to 289-6 in 50 overs.
Mizanur scored 102 off 120 balls including nine fours and three sixes while Junaid fell eight-run short to his second consecutive hundred. Shafiul picked four wickets for 48 runs.
In reply, Agrani Bank batsmen made a collective effort to chase down the total as Azmir Ahmed (65), Salman Hossain (63), Rishi Dhawan (70) and Jahid Javed (55) each struck a fifty to take the side to 292-7 in 49.1 overs.
Sheikh Jamal v Khelaghar
Opting to field first, Khelaghar bowlers rocked Sheikh Jamal batting line-up when they sent top six batsmen to the pavilion for 69 runs. A 71-run stand between Tanbir Hider (52) and Al Imran (20) helped Jamal cross 150-run mark before getting wrapped up for 167-10 in 48 overs.
Spinner Tanvir Islam picked four wickets by
giving away 30 runs while Anjum Ahmed took three wickets for 16.
In reply, Khelaghar lost three wickets for 70 runs but a 97-run partnership between Rafsan al Mahmud and Indian recruit Ashok Menaria took Khelaghar towards took them home with six wickets and 10 overs in hand.
Menaria remained unbeaten for 58 off 71 balls as Khelaghar reached 168-4 in 40 overs.
