On Tuesday evening, a group of BCL leaders and activists led by its RU unit information and research affairs secretary Mahmudur Rahman Kanon and RU arts faculty unit joint-secretary Jholok Sarkar beat up Moinul Islam, a final year student of mass communication and journalism department, over a trivial matter.
Addressing the human chain Bangladesh Gram Theatre general secretary Toufiq Hasan Moyna said, ‘We are constantly being attacked. We are forming human chains and demanding justice. Yet, we have not seen any instance of justice.’
Cultural activist and freedom fighter Nasiruddin Yousuff warned that a group was trying to initiate chaos on the campus.
Bangladesh Workers Party general secretary and a member of parliament Fazle Hossain Badsha, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation general secretary Akhtaruzzaman, Awami League Rajshahi metropolitan unit leader Kamal Ullah Sarkar, Rajshahi Sammilito Sangskritik Jote general secretary Dilip Ghosh and RU Anushilan Natyadal director professor Malay Kumar Bhowmick also spoke.
