Police on Thursday recovered the body of a female college teacher from her bedroom in Pabanapara village of Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi.
The deceased was identified as Samsun Nahar, 33, wife of Saiful Islam of the village and a lecturer of Taherpur Degree College. Her husband Saiful Islam is the former convener of Taherpur Municipal unit Sweschhaasebak Dal.
The body bore injury marks, prompting police to detain her husband, who admitted to police that he had a little quarrel with his wife and beat her up, said Bagmara Police Station officer in-charge Nasim Ahmed. He added that Saiful claimed to have left the house immediately after the fight.
Police recovered the body around 11:00am and sent it to Rajshahi Medical Collage and Hospital for autopsy.
‘We have detained the husband for interrogation. Cause of death could be confirmed following autopsy,’ said the OC.
