Professor Sanowar Hossain was appointed member of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission by a government order issued by the ministry of science and technology on March 1, said a press release on Thursday.
Sanowar Hossain is the chief medical officer and director of Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences.
He passed his Secondary School Certificate examination from Charkatari Subujsena High School in Manikganj of Dhaka and his Higher Secondary School Certificate examination from Nagarpur Governemnt College in Tangail.
He earned his MBBS degree from Rajshahi Medical College and joined the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission as medical officer in 1990, added the release.
The Professor obtained a postgraduate diploma in nuclear medicine from Institute of Nuclear Medicine under University of Dhaka and did his FRCP from Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh, UK.
Sanowar Hossain is a renowned nuclear medicine specialist and has about 130 research papers published in national and international journals.
He currently serves as the senior vice-president of Society of Nuclear Medicine Bangladesh and Bangladesh Thyroid Association and as publication secretary Bangladesh Society of Ultrasonography,
He is also widely reputed in international arena of Nuclear Medicine and actively involved in the World Association of Radiopharmaceutical and Molecular Therapy, Asia Oceania Federation of Nuclear Medicine and Biology, Asian Regional Cooperative Council for Nuclear Medicine.
