EC won’t take initiative to bring parties to polls: CEC

Chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda said on Thursday that the commission would not take any initiative to bring all the political parties to the next general election.
Attending a law and order meeting in Brahmanbaria on the eve of Nasirnagar by-election, Nurul Huda hoped that all the parties would participate in the election.
He said that the commission requested all the parties to participate in the elections during its dialogue with political parties.
He hoped that Nasirnagar by-election would be free and fair.
Deputy commissioner Md Rezwanur Rahman presided over the meeting which was also attended by Election Commission secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, additional divisional commissioner of Chittagong Shankar Ranjan Saha, BGB sector commander of Comilla sector Jubaer Hasnat, additional deputy inspector of police Md Abul Foyez and Brahmanbaria police super Md Mizanur Rahman.
