A case was filed against ten interns and medical officers for making ‘defamatory remarks’ on social media about the Rajshahi University, its teachers and students over assaulting Rajshahi University teacher Enamul Jahir by some interns of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Supreme Court lawyer Kamrul Islam filed the case with the Cyber Tribunal on Wednesday against the ten persons including four interns of RMCH.
Kamrul Islam said Judge Saiful Islam asked the Shahbag police in Dhaka to record the FIR of the case and submit its report.
The accused are RMCH inters Mery Priyanka, Mirza Kamal Hossain, Lutfar Rahman, Debpriyo Das, and doctors of Chittagong BGC Trust Medical College Shariful Islam, Chandpur Surjer Hashi Clinic Farzan Nipa, BSMMU hospital Mamunur Rashid and Romana Binte Reza, Bangladesh Chakkhu Hospital Tawhid Hossain Rubel and Salimullah Medical College Shahriar Kabir.
On February 14, some interns assaulted RU law professor Enamul Jahir following an argument between Enamul and a female intern, when he went to the hospital to see his sister.
After the incident, RU law students took to the streets condemning the assault.
Following the incident, the two groups hurled numerous comments on each other on social media.
Both sides earlier withdrew cases filed with the Rajshahi Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court with the intervention of the respective authorities.
