Rashahi University-based mime troupe Mukavinoyom staged shows of two mime productions on RU campus on Wednesday.
The productions, written and directed by RU theatre department assistant professor Sukhon Sarkar depicts the sufferings of mass people in society.
The first production titled ‘Ahare Jibon’ revolves around a youth who comes to Dhaka from a
village in search of employment.
As he wanders the streets he releases that life in big cities is vicious and nothing is free in the city. People are so busy and self-absorbed that they have no concern for others.
At the end of the day he takes shelter in a park but he gets robbed. He is forced to scour garbage looking for food.
Meanwhile, two rival political parties bring out rallies. The two groups clash with each other. The youth gets caught in the crossfire and dies.
The second show depicted the sufferings of people in the then East Pakistan. Shawan Das, Priyanka Sen Mou, Nazmus Sakib and Himangsa Barman acted in the productions.
