A two-day international conference on ‘International Conference on Business and Sustainable Development 2018’ began at Rajshahi University on Thursday with the theme of ‘Integrating business through innovation, diversity, and sustainability in the Asian region’.
RU business studies facility has arranged the conference where more than hundred researchers, academicians, practitioners, research scholars, entrepreneurs, and students from eight countries including Australia, India, Russia, and China are participating.
The university vice-chancellor M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the two-day conference at the university senate building.
Pro-vice-chancellor Ananda Kumar Saha and chairman of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh Mojib Uddin Ahmed addressed the inaugural ceremony as special guests with business studies faculty dean Md Shibley Sadique in the chair.
Kelvin Willoughby of Science and Technology Institute in Moscow, Russia, Mohammed Quaddus, deputy head at the School of Marketing of Curtin University in Australia, and Ayesha Akhtar Jahan, director of Renaissance Group presented three keynote papers.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, vice-chancellor Abdus Sobhan said Bangladesh has already shown success in implementing MDGs.
‘Bangladesh is now in the front line among the SARRC countries in meeting the most MDGs goals including infant mortality rate and empowerment of women, and has entered into a middle-income country’, he said.
He urged the people of all walks of life to come forward to continue the country’s ongoing development activities in order to meeting the goal-2041.
ICB chairman Mojib Uddin said that the landscape of the global business is changing significantly through innovations, digital technology, consumer driven culture, interactions and relationships between business entities and individuals, and geopolitics.
Besides, in participation of Lanka Bangla, IDLC Securities, and BRAC EPL, three workshops on ‘Stock Markets Trends in Bangladesh’ were also held at Rabindra Arts Building of the university.
The closing ceremony of the conference will be held Friday where University Grant Commission chairman Abdul Mannan will address ceremony as chief guest.
