The Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday served notices to additional secretary ASM Emdadud Dastagir and his wife district judge Hosne Ara Akter asking them to submit wealth statements.
The commission asked the graft suspects to submit their wealth statements to the commission within seven days, said ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhatacharjee.
He said that the notices were served as the commission suspected that the senior official and the district judge had earned huge wealth illegally.
Hosne Ara is now serving as the judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal in Satkhira while his husband Emdad is working as additional secretary at the public security division of the home affairs ministry, he said.
Hosne Ara served as the special officer of the Supreme Court during recently resigned chief justice SK Sinha.
ACC officials said that the commission initiated the inquiry against the people in January following an unnamed complaint. After initiated the inquiry the commission officials found some probes that the couple accumulated huge wealth from unknown sources, they said.
