The month-long Chittagong International Trade Fair began on Saturday in the port city.
Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised the 26th version of the fair at Railway Pologround Field.
Shipping minister Shajahan Khan inaugurated the fair at World Trade Centre at Agrabad on Saturday afternoon.
The minister in his speech said, ‘the government is working relentlessly to develop the Chittagong Port, including enhancing the process of its capacity building, through modernisation, operations and management so that the country’s businessmen can do business smoothly.’
State minister for land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Zaved, Chittagong City mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, and member of parliament MA Latif addressed the programme as special guests.
CCCI president Mahbubul Alam presided over the inaugural programme while the fair committee chairman Nurun Newaz Selim, also senior vice president of CCCI, and vice president Syed Jamal Ahmed addressed the programme.
Over 450 participants from the both home and abroad are displaying their products at 17 premier mega stalls, 23 mega stalls, 14 premier gold stalls, 13 premier stalls and 14 standard stalls at the fair.
The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 10:00pm everyday.
