Artistes of Udichi Dhaka Mahanagar Sangsad entertained the audience reciting poems depicting anomalies in the society, human rights and others at a programme held at Music and Dance Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
Recitation artiste Belayet Hossain began the show, which was organised marking the golden jubilee of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, reciting
four poems including Abul Hasan’s Nishongota, Taslima Nasrin’s Bangabhongo, Joy Goswami’s Tutorial and Kayes Ahmed’s Kustobyadhi.
Shafiul Goni next presented a recitation production titled ’52 to 71’. The production, compiled by Shafiul Gani, depicted the history of Bangladesh’s
struggle for Independence, sacrifices of women in the liberation war, violence against women in contemporary society and others.
Recitation artistes Amlan Ovi, Shikha Sen, Sumit Pal, Taposhi Roy, Anita Das Afroza Murtuza and others recited popular poems like Rabindranath Tagore’s Meghdut, Kazi Nazrul Islam’s Dhumketu, Nirmalendu Goon’s Shiyore Bangladesh, Asad Chowdhury’s Report 71, Sunil Gangopadhyay’s Shei Shab Swapno, Shuvo Dasgupta’s Ami Shei Meye, Devleena Saha Roy’s Nosto Meye and others.
