For the second consecutive day on Friday, a colourful rally was brought out at Manik Mia Avenue in a bid to encourage people to use more jute and jute products ahead of the National Jute Day on March 6.
All stakeholders of the country’s jute sector, including a good number of farmers, participated in the rally carrying colourful banners and festoons with eye-catching slogans, said a press release.
Textile and jute minister M Imazuddin Pramanik led the rally while state minister for textile and jute Mirza Azam was also present.
Pramanik urged all to contribute from their respective position in making the use of jute and jute products more popular in home and abroad. ‘We are working relentlessly to revive the past glory of the golden fibre, the pride of Bangladesh,’ he said.
After the rally, the ongoing jute road show that was started on Thursday across the country left Dhaka for Jamalpur.
The road show was adorned with colourful banners, placards and decorated vehicles with different features and benefits of using jute and jute products.
Textile and jute secretary Faizur Rahman and heads of different organisations under the textile and jute ministry were also present on the occasion.
Besides, a colourful boat procession and cultural function will be held at Hatirjheel in Dhaka on Saturday to mark the day.
