12-DAY THEATRE FESTIVAL IN SYLHET

Bhumikanya staged on eighth day

Sylhet-based theatre group Natya Niketan Sylhet staged the play Bhumikanya depicting the sexual violence committed upon the women during the liberation war in 1971 at Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium at Rikabibazar in Sylhet on Thursday.
The play was staged on the eighth day of the ongoing 12-day theatre festival organised by Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet marking the International Mother Language Day.
The play, written and directed by Champak Sarker, also portrayed struggles of Biranganas in the newly independent country immediately after the liberation war.
Tithi Khan, Suman Roy, Aman Ullah Aman, Afzal Ahmad, Prakash Das, Badrul Alam, Jannatul Ferdaus Nishi and Shantanu Sen Tappu, among others, acted in the play.
Natyalok Sylhet staged the play Ekhon Duhsomoy, written by prominent playwright Abdullah Al Mamun and directed by Afzal Hossain, on Friday evening at the festival.
The festival will continue till March 5.
