Bangladesh Bank executive director Ahmed Jamal has been appointed as its deputy governor following the retirement of SK Sur Chowdhury on January 31 this year.
Public administration ministry issued a notification on Jamal’s appointment on Thursday.
Abu Hena Mohd Razee Hassan and SM Moniruzzaman are the two other deputy governors of the central bank.
Jamal, who was promoted as central bank’s executive director on May 12, 2012, would hold the post of deputy governor till June 30, 2023.
Jamal got the new appointment based on agreement following his resignation from his previous post, said the notification.
The newly appointed deputy governor strated his career at the central bank as an assistant director in 1984 after graduating in accounting from Rajshahi University.
He worked at different departments, including Human Resources, Foreign Exchange Policy, Foreign Exchange Inspection, Foreign Exchange Inspection and Vigilance and Financial Stability, with proficiency and reputation, the release said.
