Book on Jibanananda Das launched

A book featuring 50 essays on popular Bengali poet Jibanananda Das’s poems was launched at a programme held at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Wednesday.
The book titled ‘Kabitar Kalpurush’ has been published by Government Harganga College, Munshiganj marking Jibanananda Das’s 119th birth anniversary which was celebrated on February 17.
Poet Kamal Chowdhury was present at the book launch as the chief guest. Jahangirnagar University anthropology professor Manosh Chowdhury and University of Liberal Arts professor Salimullah Khan were present at the programme as discussants.
Government Haraganga College principal Dr Mir Mahfuzul Haque delivered the welcome at the programme. ‘From Government Haraganga College, we have previously published books on Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore and national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. We have plans to publish books on other major writers and poets in future’.
The chief guest and the discussants praised the college authorities for publishing books on renowned poets. They said that such initiatives will make both teachers and students pursue literary works.
