A two-day photography exhibition featuring life and struggles of potters ended at Ashwini Kumar Hall in Barisal on Sunday.
Twenty-five photographs, taken by young photographer Kishore Karmakar, were displayed at the show styled ‘Palolik’ (alluvial).
The exhibition was inaugurated on Saturday morning in presence of cultural activists, freedom fighters, language movement heroes including poet Kajal Chakraborty, SM Iqbal, Syed Dulal, Yusuf Hossain Kalu, Akkas Hossain, Mukul Das and Sushanta Ghosh.
‘Though pottery is integral in our cultural tradition and history, the art form is now on verge of extinction for modernisation. In the show, I tried to focus on life and struggles of potters of Kalaskathi village under Bakerganj upazila of Barisal,’ Kishore told New Age.
The show would inspire some people to help them to survive and continue their age-old tradition, he hoped.
