Sylhet-based theatre troupe Nandik Natyadal Sylhet staged its play Hason Raja, depicting the life and works of legendary mystic bard Hason Raja at Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium Rikabibazar in Sylhet on Sunday.
The play was staged on the fourth day of the ongoing twelve-day theatre festival organised by Sammilita Natya Parishad Sylhet marking the International Mother Language Day.
The play, written by Mostaq Ahmad and directed by Amirul Islam Babu, depicts the journey of Zaminder Hason Raja, who rejected the life of luxury to become a mystic poet.
Born at Rampasha under Bishwanath upazila in Sylhet on December 21, 1854, Hason Raja wrote more than three thousand songs.
Paragrenu Dev, Amit Tribedi, Jhalak Ranjan Das, Madhab Karmaker, Aditi Das, Sharmila Dev, Satyajit Datta Gautam, Shubhashish Chakrabarti, Imran Ahmed, Shimul Ahmed and Kanoj Chakrabarti, among others acted in the play.
Theatre troupe Natyalok Sylhet staged its play Mulluk, written by Bakkar Bakul and directed by Khoaz Rahim Sabuj, at the festival on Monday. Artiste of defunct Shwadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and Ekushey Padak winning music composer Sujeo Shyam inaugurated festival on Thursday.
