A four-day group show featuring one hundred and ten paintings done by students of painting, oriental art and printmaking department of Rajshahi University began at the fine arts gallery of the university on Thursday.
The exhibition titled ‘Annual Art Exhibition-2017’ has been organised by the department to promote the artworks of its students.
RU vice chancellor professor M Abdus Sobhan inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest.
Among others, RU painting, oriental art and printmaking department chair professor Hritendra Kumar Sarma and convener of the exhibition professor Siddhartha Shankar Talukder were present at the inauguration programme.
A total of nineteen students of the department were awarded in three categories for their displayed works.
Shahin Alam, a third year student of Bangla department of the university told New Age that such art exhibitions are rarely held in Rajshahi. ‘I hope the department will organise more such exhibitions featuring artworks of young artists,’ said Shahin.
The exhibition will remain open for all till Sunday.
