Twelve seasoned artists displayed 55 artworks at a group show titled ‘Friendship’ which ended at EMK Centre in Dhanmondi on Thursday.
The majority of the artworks, done in different mediums, portray beautiful landscapes.
Artists like Nazlee Laila Mansur, Alfa Begum, Hosna Banu Chotna, Jyoutsna Mahbuba, M Alamgir, Rahat Nilofer, Saeeda Kamal, Shamim Ahmed, Shahida Akter, Shamima Sharmin, Shammy Yasmin and Suraiya Chowdhury displayed their works at the show.
‘Through the group exhibition the participating artists celebrated their friendship. The exhibition featured diverse artworks on different themes’, said Saeeda Kamal, one of the participating artists.
The show featured portraits, watercolour and acrylic landscape paintings, prints, and pen and pencil drawings.
Hosna Banu Chotna’s four acrylic paintings under Nature series portray the beauty of different flowers of the country.
Artist Saeeda Kamal displayed artworks portraying beauty of flora in her watercolour paintings like Phool O Pathorer Golpo, Kanchon, Banatol Phule Phule Dhaka and others.
M Alamgir depicts beauty and serenity of rural Bangladesh in his acrylic paintings. Alamgir’s detailed and colourful paintings show boats and landscape, rural people amid the greenery and others. Renowned artist Nazlee Laila Mansur’s pen drawings show the artist’s prowess in figure drawing. In one of her unnamed drawings, the artist has drawn in short lines a detailed human figure lying in a boat.
Besides, the show also featured Rahat Nilofer’s woodcut prints showing birds and trees, Shamima Sharmin’s collagraph print Basanta Bilash and Shammy Yasmin’s dry point and relief prints, among others.
