The Indian Border Security Force picked up two Bangladeshi fishermen from River Padma along Khorchaka border in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi and physically tortured them early Tuesday.
The victims were identified as Mizanur Rahman alias Mizan, 26, son of late Shahajan Ali, and Nishan Ali, 23, son of Rasul Ali, residents of village Biyanabona of the upazila.
Mizan and Nishan went fishing in the River Padma along the Khorchaka border in the upazila Monday midnight.
The BSF members picked them up from their boat around 2:00am on Tuesday and beat them up with sticks and rifles, said Border Guard Bangladesh sources.
The BSF, later, released them Tuesday morning and the locals rescued them. They were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, said Moyeen Ali, the younger brother of victim Mizan.
A BGB team was sent to the hospital on hearing news of the incident, said Lieutenant Colonel Iftekhar Shamim Al Masud, commanding-officer of BGB battalion-01, adding that a letter will be sent to the BSF protesting at the incident.
